Abandoned: Perry’s Paddock

These photos were taken in February 2019

Not technically abandoned since these ruins are features of Yellagonga Regional Park, but we did find another building that actually was so I’m going to go ahead and use the tag. We had to climb through a hole in the fence and everything!

The recreational area is named after John Perry who bred horses and held races on the property in the 1920s. The ruins are his house and the stables.

As for the real abandoned building, I have no idea. I thought it may have been related to Woodvale Secondary College next door but it predates that by at least twenty years. My best guess is stables and a race/trot track just to the north is still visible on aerial photography. That is not so obvious from the ground, however.

It’s within the boundaries of the park and since it’s not been demolished, it must have some sort of significance.

(sorry that some of the photos are blurry - this was right after I bought a new camera)
