The Lincoln Street Ventilation Stack
The Lincoln Street Ventilation Stack can be found in the suburb of Highgate, close to the Perth CBD. Constructed in 1941 under the guidance of Russell Dumas, the stack was a failed experiment to exert acidic gas from the sewer network. All the equipment quickly corroded and it was known to stink out the local neighbourhood. It was sealed off after only four weeks of operation but gained a second life by concealing a secret antenna used by the police department and the Commonwealth Department of Defence during World War 2.
